New Zealand Virtual Postcard I

Randy & Debbie's Kiwi Adventure

Greetings from New Zealand! Kia Ora!

Greetings from tomorrow! Here we are on the other side of the international dateline in one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. From mountains to coastal plains, thermal areas and alpine terrain New Zealand has it all.

On the way over we stopped and had a drink at this place at the LA airport.

We spent the first few days in Auckland - a large city with palm trees and the largest tower in the Southern hemisphere.

This waterfall was by the side of the road. The sign just said scenic overlook (you couldn't see anything from the road). We almost didn't stop but decided to check it out.

Yesterday we took an 8 hour hike called the Tongariro Crossing. We literally walked through a volcano. The views are amazing - here is small sample (the small dots on the lower left are people):

We have enjoyed gorgeous weather so far, but this weekend we will experience what it is like to be in a south pacific cyclone... no worries mate...

I was a bit worried about driving on the left but it turned out to be fine - so far. We are heading for the South island early next week on a ferry from Wellington.

Cheers,

Randall & Debbie
